In the Pacific States, temperatures for the week averaged from slightly above to slightly below normal, and the first autumn freeze occurred in some of the northern and central coastal valleys of California. Nearly all of it fell during the first 2 days of the week, when general light to moderate rain occurred in the southwestern Great Plains and east of the Mississippi.
