The finds assemblage included flint handaxes and other tools which gave a clear picture of Middle Pleistocene methods of hunting and butchery. The authors examine the results of the rescue excavations in quarries 1 and 2, 1983-1996, and present results from 1983-1989 together with subsequent research and analysis to provide a detailed geological and archaeological record.
