Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Countries are increasingly concerned with formulating a coordinated international response to competition policy. One manifestation of this is the inclusion of competition provisions in trade agreements. The failure of multilateral discussions in this regard has precipitated a substantial increase in competition provisions in free trade agreements ("FTAs"). Today, over one hundred bilateral and regional FTAs include provisions on competition law and policy. Recent Australian FTAs mirror international trends. The Singapore-Australia Free Trade Agreement ("SAFTA"), Australia-United States Free Trade Agreement ("AUSFTA") and Thailand-Australia Free Trade Agreement ("TAFTA") all include competition chapters.
