Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Ophthalmoscope, Vol. 5: A Monthly Review of Current Ophthalmology; December 1, 1907 Matters are comparatively simple when the patient manifests bunches of enlarged glands in his neck or elsewhere, and the diagnostic value of this evidence is accentuated when anatomically unrelated groups of glands share in the change, for which no obvious and adequate cause can be made out. Dr. C. Stedman Bull4 has lately stated that enlarged glands are present in about 85 per cent. Of the cases Of anterior tuberculosis of the eye. A history of tubercle in the patient's family cannot be held to count for a great deal when it is remembered that such a history can be obtained in about one-half of all cases brought to a children's hospital for treatment. Apart from this practical consideration, the family inheritance Of tubercle does not nowadays rank so highly from a diagnostic point of view as it did a few years ago.
