Book excerpt: Gravity makes the universe expand! Einstein explained that gravity is not an attractive force as Newton believed. It is a curvature of space. The sun does not exert gravitational force on the earth. The earth orbits the sun because it follows the curvature of space formed by the sun's gravity. The curvature of space produced by gravity acts like an attractive force within our solar system, yet like a repulsive force at cosmological distance.Einstein did not discover this truth, because he could not derive a rigorous solution to the extremely complex tensor math used in General Relativity. After Einstein's death, Yilmaz solved this mathematical dilemma in a paper published by the prestigious Physical Review in 1958. However, Yilmaz was reluctant to pursue cosmological implications of his theory.Yilmaz showed the author how to apply the Einstein-Yilmaz math to cosmology. This study yielded amazing results. It predicts an infinitely old universe that continually expands, yet gets no larger, because Relativity compresses the universe at great distance. To compensate for expansion, matter is created from energy in electromagnetic and gravity radiation, at a rate of two hydrogen atoms per year within a cubic kilometer of space. To explain our remarkable picture of the universe, the book gives a simple yet scientifically accurate presentation of the principles of General Relativity that can be understood by the average reader. This is augmented by extensive appendices for mathematically advanced readers, to provide scientific evidence justifying the claims made in the eight chapters. The book reduces to obsolescence the ingenious but artificial postulates of the Big Bang and other theories for explaining the expansion of our universe.
