The daily demand for informa tion contained in the Directories well justi fies the continuation of this publication. A consolidation of certain activities by the 1939 General Assembly has resulted in the assignment of this work to the office of Secretary of State. Due to the expansion of governmental activities assigned to divi sions in various State departments, this volume would be too large and cumber some if all of such activities and divisions and subdivisions were included. Therefore, only the administrative, departmental and institutional heads are included in this Directory. The greater part of the inform ation contained in this Directory has been furnished by the Clerk of the Superior Court of each county and appreciation is hereby expressed for their cooperation in compiling this data. It is hoped that this concise publication containing the names and addresses of such State and County of ficials will answer the need evidenced by the demand made for such a publication.
