In 2015, he started writing a series of autobiographical "short plays by Rob Broadhurst" on social media, many only 2-5 lines long, tackling the crisis of the week. These quick and self-contained jokes; inspired by the likes of Mitch Hedberg, Steven Wright, and a growing number of Twitter comedians confined to 280 characters; eventually garnered a small but enthusiastic following. This enthusiasm led Rob to develop "A Short Book of Short Plays By Rob Broadhurst," available in print and e-book for the first time."The shortest play is one line and one stage direction and the longest is broken up into four parts, but the goal of each play was the same: to tell a complete story as economically as possible and get a few laughs along the way," says Broadhurst. Rob Broadhurst received his MFA in Musical Theater Writing from NYU Tisch School of the Arts in 2008. His original musicals have been produced in New York, San Francisco, and Sacramento and his work has been produced at iconic venues like Joe's Pub, Barrington Stage, and The Vineyard. The 100 plays featured in "A Short Book of Short Plays by Rob Broadhurst" run the gambit. Some are absurd. Some are introspective. Some are dark. But all 100 plays are written with heart and aim to please.
