(captain of volunteers 1812, selectman in 1814); about 1819 he moved to Thetford, Vermont, and with his brother-in-law Thomas Kendrick ran branches of his fathers store on Thetford Hill and in North Thetford and South Strafford; he married Azuba Jenks in 1809; he was an early trustee of Thetford Academy, and served as selectman and town treasurer; in 1827, shortly after a bridge across the Connecticut led to development in North Thetford, he moved to a house outside the village, which his father had bought in 1802; until his death in 1868, he farmed and ran a store across the road from his house.
