The King and Queen want to retire, and Humpty Dumpty is all set to take over as King. The wicked Knave, however, has other ideas. When the Queen's newly baked tarts are stolen, the Knave sets Humpty up as the thief. Humpty is banished to the top of the tower where he falls off the wall. The King's horses and the King's men try to put him back together again, but they can't succeed. It takes Jack and Jill, Simple Simon and all the boys and girls in the audience to bring about a happy ending where Humpty is fully restored and justice is done. Great fun for young children and all the family, this is a wonderful read in itself - and for those interested in performance, there is nothing more to pay for amateur rights which are included in the price of the book.
