McDonald (1839-1843), pertaining to regiment service in accordance with an act of 1837. The act called for the formation of regiments to protect settlers in the Cherokee country and removal of Cherokees and Creeks residing within the limits of Georgia. As a member of this regiment, Stewart was assigned the special duty of investigating citizens' claims of Indian hostilities before regiments were deployed. He asks to be reimbursed for his services, particularly his travel expense.
