Each of 26 dyes cover four full pages: the plant or insect description and history, pictures of the plant or insect and its habitat, the dye's unique extraction process, and at least 8 colors from each dye on wool roving, raw silk and cotton fabrics. The introduction section includes Carol Leigh's teaching and multi-cultural experiences over the past 35 years, PLUS instruction on preparing different fibers to accept and hold onto dyes for color. The conclusion section includes an extensive gallery of dyed items created locally and from around the world.
