The primary focus of this study was to explore perceptions of principal leadership and its influence on student achievement. A vast majority of research addressing this content targets urban school districts. This research was intended to contribute to the literature focused on school leadership in rural school districts. The findings of this study provided insight on which strategies and/or practices utilized by middle school principals were considered to have the greatest impact on student outcomes.
