Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We study aspects of supersymmetry breaking in gauge theories and string theory. On the gauge theory side, we explore metastable vacua in a SQCD-like model with an extra sector connected by a singlet. The model combines dynamical supersymmetry breaking with an O'Raifeartaigh mechanism in terms of confined variables. On the string theory side, we study the dynamics of non-supersymmetric magnetized D-brane configurations on Calabi-Yau spaces. We also study the stabilization of the supersymmetry breaking runaway quiver.
