Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Church at Home and Abroad, 1887, Vol. 1 The committee appointed by the last Gen eral Assembly to arrange and issue the con solidated magazine now present the result of their work. The Assembly decided only the question of consolidation, leaving to the committee all details, including the question of editorship and the selection of an editor if deemed expedient to appoint one. The magazine is to be devoted to the benevolent work of the Presbyterian Church, at home and abroad, not omitting, however, information upon the work of other branches of the Church of Christ. It will, therefore, not be concerned with current general topics, or with questions of theology or ecclesiasti cal polity. It is intended to represent all the departments of the Church's work, giv in g to each a fair and full exhibit, and to be, in a special sense, the organ of the Boards.
