Human activities such as production and consumption, resource depletion, waste generation, and a host of other factors all have negative effects on the environment. Due to the aforementioned, the world is seeking for a cleaner and safer form of energy. Oil-exporting economies such as Nigeria, which rely heavily on fossil fuels for economic growth are likely to face greater disruption from this transition If the country does not diversify its economy. Nigeria has tried a variety of approaches and implemented a number of policies to address the country's electricity woes, but so far, the country has seen little progress. Many businesses have been forced to relocate to countries that are more environmentally friendly and developed as a result of these power issues. The subject of electricity and the energy sector in Nigeria is very intriguing, interesting and deserving of examination. Various scholars have researched the underlying drivers and causes of electricity problems in Nigeria. However, this paper seeks to address the impact of the global energy transition on the Nigerian power sector.
