Book excerpt: Robert Sedgwick (d.1656) emigrated from England (via Jamaica) to Hartford, Connecticut. Theodore Sedgwick (1746-1813) was a direct descendant in the fifth generation, born at Hartford and serving in the Revolutionary War. He married three times, and became a judge in Massachusetts. The judge was the author's father, as well as the father of Katharine Maria Sedgwick, the latter being part of the subject chosen for this paper by the Berkshire Historical Society. Miss Sedgwick was a notable author of fiction for young people. Sedgwick descendants and relatives lived in New England, New York and elsewhere.
